The might of the Roman Empire and the dangerous politics of ancient Jerusalem placed a heavy burden on those who believed in Jesus. But the new faith would not die. In a brief span of time, this new religion would transcend its origins in the provinces of Rome and absorb the capital of the empire itself.
Peter & Paul and the Christian Revolution explores how two men overcame crippling disagreements and political persecution to lead one of history's most astonishing religious movements.
2 x 55 minute episodes from the Empires series.
EPISODE 1:
The Rock and the River
Peter and Paul encounter the risen Christ on the shores of Galilee and the road to Damascus respectively. For the fledgling religion, these are turning points and the good news spreads around the Empire.
EPISODE 2:
The Empire and the Kingdom
Paul falls into disagreement with some of the oldest members of the movement and, despite Peter's attempt at mediation, goes his own way. Then, in 70 AD, Judea revolts against Rome. Much of Jerusalem is destroyed and the people are once again enslaved. Judea can no longer support a Jewish Christian movement, but Paul's communities around the Mediterranean survive and grow.
